SEES Eagles Cheer Program Registration Closes August 12
Date Posted: Friday, 7th August 2020

We are so excited to bring Cheerleading back to SEES beginning with our 2020-2021 school year! Registration is open through August 12, 2020.

REGISTER NOW

Open to ALL

SEES Cheer Program is excited to offer two squads during the 20-21 School Year. We will have a Blue squad for students in grades 3-5 and a Red Squad for students in grades 6-8. Our squads are open to both boys and girls and we welcome beginners who have never cheered before — we will start with the basics!

What does it mean to be a SEES Cheerleader?

Being a SEES Cheerleader is so much more than just chants, jumps, and poms. We expect our squad members to be crowd leaders, spirit raisers, school pride ambassadors, athletes, and entertainers. During practices, we will reinforce the importance of our faith, strength of character, excellence in academics, and community building.

Cheer Season

Our vision for the Cheer season is a “year-round” program. Practices will begin during the summer months and continue through the fall. Our hope is to have both squads cheer for at least one game a week. We will hope to have squads at Flag Football games in all three seasons.

Cheer Costs

The cost for SEES Cheer will be $150.00. This includes the following:

  • Practice Wear: two practice tees and practice shorts
  • Uniform: Cheer shell, skirt, boy shorts, bodysuit (alternative uniform for boys)
  • Accessories: Poms & Bows
What is NOT Included
  • Optional Accessories We will have team warm-ups, cheer bags, and adult spirit wear available for purchase in a team store. These items are completely optional and not required to fully participate.
  • Shoes Because of the wide variety of pricing for cheer shoes, we will not require a specific brand of cheer shoes. We ask that cheer shoes be purchased separately. Shoes should be all white with no color inserts. Shoes should be kept as clean as possible and should not be worn for other activities outside of practice, games, or other cheer related events.
Summer Practices

Practices for both squads will be held each Tuesday and Thursday beginning August 4, 2020. We will practice outside on the SEES Athletic field from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. Parents are welcome to stay at practice and remain in their cars or socially distant or drop their students off.  We expect our athletes to be at each practice and arrive on time, ready to work. If there are any changes to practice, we will communicate directly to parents by 8:00 pm the evening before. Practices will be rain or shine but will be canceled in the event of lightning or extreme weather.

Athletes will be expected to bring a large bottle of water, a healthy, nut-free snack, and a beach towel or yoga mat to each practice. Additionally, we ask that each athlete brings a cloth mask and personal hand sanitizer for the foreseeable future. We will not ask participants to wear masks unless we are in close contact, which will be avoided in most instances for the time being. If your athlete has a severe allergy or health condition, we ask that a parent, guardian or trusted adult stay on campus with them during summer practices, as our health office will not be available. We will have a basic first aid kit available at each practice for cuts, bruises, and/or scrapes and unless it is a significant injury that needs immediate attention, we will notify parents at the end of practice if a student needed medical assistance.

School Year Practices

Beginning the week of August 25, practices will continue to be held on Tuesday and Thursday and will transition to the afternoons, from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm. Initially, practices will focus on stretching and conditioning, cheer basics including moves, jumps and cheer terminology, and learning cheers. We will begin each practice with a prayer for our athletes and will end each practice with a team-building activity and a farewell prayer/affirmation.

Below you will find some introductory videos to cheer basics. Please have your athletes watch these videos to familiarize themselves with basic cheer activities. Athletes should never push themselves outside of their physical comfort zone. We want to keep everyone healthy and strong – it is perfectly okay to watch and learn! We will work together to get everyone up to speed but at their own pace.

Coaching and Team Support

We will be asking for parent support with coaching and beyond. We will have a junior coach for each of our squads – Coach Taylor will be running practices with our blue squad and Coach Riley will be running practices with our red squad. We would like to have substitute coaches for each of our squads along with at least two team parent reps for each squad. Sign-ups for these VERY important roles will be sent out the first week of practice. Having a strong support system for our athletes is critical to the success of our program so will ask parents to take an active role wherever they can!

We are so excited to get started with the season! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Abby McDonald at [email protected] or by cell at 804.833.8881.
